Freedom Reins

Serving veterans through the power of horses

Freedom Reins is a Veterans program based on natural horsemanship methods and building relationships with our equine partners. Interactions with horses encourage adjustments on physical, social and emotional levels. During our lessons, veterans learn to recognize horse behaviors through grooming, ground work in the round pen, and leading in the arena and along trails. Participants learn that horses are constantly communicating with us through their body language, and in return, we can communicate with them through our body language and energy levels. As our participants progress through the lessons, they demonstrate reduced anxiety not only while they are working with the horses, but also in everyday life. The Prancing Horse Freedom Reins program also engages the unique attributes of the horse to empower freedom of movement, gently restore balance, strengthen muscles, and rebuild trust and confidence. Through our partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project, qualified veterans and active-duty service members participate in sessions at Prancing Horse free of charge.
