Therapeutic Riding

Learning riding skills and so much more

In our Therapeutic Riding Program, we serve clients ages four to 70+. Our PATH certified instructors adapt the riding lesson to the individual’s needs and select the appropriate horse to assist them.  As clients work on their riding skills, they also improve physical, social, and emotional skills that benefit them on and off the horse.

Riding lessons last 30 to 45 minutes. Clients are supported by a volunteer who leads the horse and usually one or two side walkers, who secure the rider in the saddle as they walk alongside them. Some individuals can ride without volunteer support. Lessons may be conducted privately or in a small group based upon the client’s age and/or ability.

Lessons take place in the fall and spring. The Fall session runs 11 weeks from September to December. The Spring session runs 11 weeks from mid-February/early March to May.  Abbreviated mini sessions may be scheduled in June.
